Build Your Own Antique-Style Wooden Beer Crates
Looking for a way to store all your Home-Brew? If you bottle, the classic wooden crate is still one of the best solutions. The wooden enclosure protects the beer from damaging light that would impart the "Skunk" smell in most beers. Wood is also durable, cheap, and a better insulator than may of the plastic bottle crates used by bars. These Simple instructions will show you how to make a classic wooden beer crate. It will hold 24 standard 12oz bottles and stack nicely.
Worth noting: the average 12oz Beer bottle is 2.75" in diameter and 9.5" high. If you use larger bottles, you may have to adjust the size (or store fewer bottles in each crate). Double check the height of your bottles before construction begins. If your bottle is too high, you won't be able to stack the crates.
